It is important you don’t turn it into a fanfest. We can’t make this all about looking backwards.

Moffat on not having any Classic Who Doctors on the 50th anniversary special. (X)

I’m not even that invested in DW, but now I’m mad for so many of its fans. I’m trying to liken it to what would happen if, say, he tried to pull this kind of shit with the Sherlock Holmes franchise and I just… I can’t imagine. It’s like the guy thinks everything that happened before his reign as show-runner didn’t count. I don’t understand how you make this kind of decision and still try to present yourself as someone who respects the history of the program you’re in charge of — the WHOLE history, not just the small corner of it you control. I know I whine a lot about Moffat but this kind of attitude is why I dislike the guy so much.

This is an anniversary of the entire show, not just the past ~8 years. This is a show spanning fifty years and he’s decided to focus on the most recent decade and few (cough most recently popular and therefore the most marketable cough) leading actors so as to not “look backwards” — this is a show about fucking time travel, it’s the most bullshit excuse to just do things your way and dismiss any criticism lobbed at you, I don’t.

I completely understand not wanting to cater to fans too much, because shows and writers that do this have a lot of problems in more ways than one, but I feel honestly with an anniversary, it should be different. An anniversary is about a good show and delivering to fans, a celebration. The fans are the reason this show even exists, why not cater to them just this one time, make them happy? Fans should walk away from a 50 year (FIFTY YEAR) anniversary feeling the full weight of the entire show, not just the 2005 reboot — it’s not a eight-year anniversary, come on. You can’t really get the full immensity of the weight of this show’s legacy with just two doctors. I know people are excited for Tennat to return, and I like Smith well enough myself, but… come on, two out of eleven and you want to call that a 50 year anniversary? I’m sure the actors will do just fine, but try a bit harder to pull your head out of your ass, Moffat, just try.

Wow, whereas earlier I was considering catching up with Doctor Who so I can watch the 50th anniversary special fully informed, I think I might just not even bother.

Does someone have a bbc livestream?

I was going to watch Doctor Who with my friend but she’s still at work unsure if she’ll make it and I don’t own a TV..

He never raised his voice. That was the worst thing… the fury of the Time Lord… and then we discovered why—why this Doctor, who had fought with gods and demons, why he had run away from us and hidden. He was being kind…

Everybody go read Rosianna's reaction post to The Angels Take Manhattan, as it perfectly describes my feels ›

matt’s acting was really good indeed. i thought it was good pacing too, and i actually quite likes the plot. it’s not like that they can something completely new out of nowhere like with the image of an angel, so i liked that.

Oh.. kay?

I genuinely do not understand but HEY everyone has a different taste right ;D

I think I’m gonna stop watching Doctor Who.

Edit:

it’s sad that you don’t really like it anymore, but there is always a different in taste. i also just really like amy and rory and it’s just extremely sad that they left now.

Yeah. I guess different taste and stuff.

I wasn’t crazy about Amy and Rory but it’s not that I didn’t like them either… Idk…

why did you think it was bad?

What WASN’T bad? The only thing that was okay, maybe, was Matt’s acting. The rest? Crappy plot, crappy dialogue, NO FLOW whatsoever, it did not give me ONE FEEL other than that it was just absolut SHIT

I contemplated turning it off half way through but you know me, gotta give it a shot. Especially because it was once my favourite show!

You LIKED it?! What exactly did you think was GOOD?! I honestly don’t see it.

So that was shit
