He’s called Susan, and he wants you to respect his life choices

LOLLLL

Okay so I really enjoyed Dinosaurs on a Spaceship! I didn’t really like the previous episode but this one was really good :)

Hema, possibly my favourite Dutch store ever, now sells BOW TIES as a BICYCLE accessory. Is there anything more amazing than that? Bow ties are cool!

“Doctor Who” Trailer Better than the Episodes Themselves?

leakynews:

This morning at the sprightly hour of 6 a.m. the trailer for the upcoming series of Doctor Who was released, which you can watch at this link or at the bottom of this post. It was exciting, dark, fast-paced and full of lots of rather delicious looking villains but the cynic in me couldn’t help but wonder…is this trailer going to be better than the episodes themselves?

The keyword in press releases and creator interviews for Doctor Who in the new era has been “EPIC.” The desire to make individual episodes and the series as a whole large and cinematic is understandable, blockbusters excite people and get them talking and Classic Who was all about the huge narrative arcs that spanned over lots of episodes and were resolved at the end of the series. It’s precisely those narrative arcs that I’m concerned about. The Moffat era thus far has been so concerned with visuals and the fairytale mythos so emphasised in Doctor Who publicity that they’ve forgotten to write really good solid stories with clever episode arcs. To be frank, I barely enjoyed the most recent series, with a couple of exceptions for The Doctor’s Wife and Closing Time (but that was mainly because of Stormy) and I don’t want to sit through another series of Doctor Who feeling like I’m watching a first or second draft someone’s mixed up all of the pages for.

It’s my hope that I’ll be proven wrong, that the work will be put in to make the Doctor’s rage a natural consequence of the narrative of Series 7, just as Davies masterfully did with the Time Lord Victorious at the end of the Tennant years. Perhaps, too, I am being unfair: we’ve only seen two trailers so far, after all. Still, it’s been a consistent theme of the past couple of years that the excitement I felt watching the teaser trailers did not correlate with my reaction to those episodes and what’s more, the trailers introduced characters I didn’t actually care about when the episode rolled around because the groundwork wasn’t there.

Still, it’s a beautiful trailer, excellently edited and…yes…a little bit epic. Let’s hope the series delivers all that’s promised in a trailer full of cool spaceships, excited!Doctor, angry!Doctor, New York, alien revenge and sharp, dramatic soundtracks.

I love how half the comments on the new Doctor Who trailer are actually about Lestrade.

What bothers me about a fandom like the Doctor Who fandom here on Tumblr is the fakeness of it. The second Jenna Louise Coleman was announced, heaps of Jenna Louise Coleman fansites/fuckyeahs popped up within minutes. Loads of Jenna Louise Coleman related urls were taken almost instantly. Now I keep seeing post on my dash with people claiming that they absolutely love her to death and that they just know she’ll be fantastic.

How. The. Fuck. Do. You. Know?!

I’m sure Jenna (or whatever her short name is, I’m sure she doesn’t go around getting referred to by her full fucking name all the time) is a wonderful person. I do trust the judgment of the casting directors and sutff… but to already be that head over heels with her is just plain silly.

It reduces the weight of your words to next to nothing. Next time you tell me that book is ‘amazing’, what might I deduce about that? It could be that you’ve just read the back like you’ve only seen a couple official teaser pictures of our new companion.

That said, I’m really curious to see what Jenna will bring to the table. I’ve enjoyed Amy and Rory’s time as companions, but I’m ready for something else.

It’s performances like this which make me disappointed when I hear people say the don’t like Eccleston or skip over that whole season just to get to Tennant. Tennant was fantastic and a brilliant Doctor, but there wouldn’t be a Tennant Doctor without Eccleston’s Doctor. The way Tennant’s Doctor was portrayed was the effect that Rose had on Nine. In the beginning, Nine was harsh and unforgiving having come back from the Time War, his time with Rose softened that harsh attitude and it’s really shown in this episode.

“Just this once, everybody lives!” Has to be my absolute favourite line in all the history of Doctor who because in that episode everyone did.

All the love to Nine!

Dear flatmate. Watch the first season. Now. Sincerely, your flatmate.

Ooh fuck yeah, I agree ‘Just this once, everybody lives’ <3

Okay people are gonna have to tag their shit featuring stuff (especially pictures) from the new upcoming series of Doctor Who. Some of us are trying to stay spoiler free :/

Even if it doesn’t look important, I don’t careeeeeee

I don’t want to see it!

Like, ‘#dwspoilers’ or ‘#doctor who spoilers’ will do, I guess.

Please be considerate of other fans, thank youuu

According to IMDB, the name of Jenna-Louise Coleman’s companion…will let people make their own deductions on this matter!

THEY SAID THEY’D BE FILMING PART OF SEVEN ON BAD WOLF BAY!!!! WHAT IS THIS.

10.2 naming her after his granddaughter then? eeeeeeeeeeeeh?

Wasn’t the Doctors first companion his granddaughter Susan? If Susan Tyler is indeed the child of Rose and Extra!Ten then what is she… she’s not the Doctors Granddaughter though kinda.. hmm. whut

In Goblet of Fire, Barty Crouch Jr. dies in the chapter “The Parting Of The Ways.” He’s played by David Tennant in the movies, whose first episode of Doctor Who was “The Parting Of The Ways.”

Look that Jenna girl looks lovely and she seemed very nice in that interview but honestly, right now she’s nothing more to me than yet another pretty young white girl.

I’d hoped for someone more daring. I loved Karen as Amy. For a while. Amy as a character bored me pretty quickly. I started off not liking Rory at all and now I’ve warmed up to him a lot.

I’m not saying Jenna is gonna suck. I have nothing to judge her on so I will try not to do that.

I’m just saying that right now she has a lot to prove and given previous companions such as Donna she has some rather large shoes to fill. She better give it her all.
