Just spent some time browsing through UTubeDrama.com via the internet archives (as the website is no longer online).

It’s amazing how irrelevent most of the people mentioned in 2007/2008 now are…

Some people that are mentioned are still here: sxephil is mentioned a lot cause of his ToS violating boob thumbnails, Charlie is mentioned as being the reason fiveawesomeguys has 8,000 subscribers (which, believe it or not, was a lot back then). fiveawesomeguys also shouldn’t be monetised according to the dear Trevor Rieger, because it’s a collab channel and should be about community…

Then I stumbled upon December 18 (It hink 2007) and the Project for Awesome is mentioned.. not by name, but all Trevor’s blurbs are about how much everyone hates NerdFighters cause they are gaming the system by taking over the charts and monetising charity videos… bla bla bla

It’s amazing how no one cares about the fact that YouTuber’s make money off of YouTube anymore. Back then it was this dirty thing people did with their content, and if you did it on a crappy or ‘community’ video then you’d be crucified. Some of our favourite YouTuber’s indiegogo campaigns would have been considered the worst form of e begging.

Also the copyright issues are clearly visible.. The viacom situation was unfolding.. 

Anyway, everyone hates/hated UTubeDrama, and Trevor Rieger’s posts were very one sided and out of context, but it’s surprisingly addicting browsing through old news.

lol two new videos in my subbox are of YouTubers plugging the same two YouTube channels.

Sorry but where is the time when people made sure to assure you that they hadn’t monetised a video because that was frowned upon? Remember before that when YouTube announced the first 100 partners and people were SO ANGRY cause sell out and no integrity and advertising ruins everything etc etc

Now I’m not saying I am against people making money of their videos but come on this plug for channel flip channels.. GODDD I dunno, it just makes me VERY UNEASY

The contrast with a couple years ago in startling. also remember how YouTube said they would NEVER DO PREROLLS. ha. hahahaha. And then there’s me who was super annoyed by pre rolls at first and now practically everything has a pre roll and I was thinking about it last week how quickly I just accepted prerolls and how I’m actually not that bothered by them anymore.. Except when they don’t have a skip after five seconds function because that is very very annoying.

Anyhow. YouTube changes bladibladibla. I know that. But I can’t help but subtract a substantial amount of awesome points from those YouTubers.

Also what do you think the UTubeDrama blurb about this would read?!

But it’s worse! It’s THREE! I didn’t scroll down enough.. Oopssss! And they’re all uploaded within a timespan of about 20 minutes. I’m done. I am sooo done.

It’s one thing to be proud of stuff you made and linking to it but ad;jf;ajdf I dunno it just has such a BITTER AFTERTASTE UGH

My main concern with that article is yeah the guy says his hair started behaving but what kind of haircut did he even have?

Alex’s hair always looks pretty untamed if you ask me.

Renetto’s Tube It. This video has ‘only’ 250,000 views. I remember this was a VERY big video back then, like, HUGE. Honesly, I haven’t watched this in ages and I can just sing along… damn!

This is what I’m looking for… those memories. Back when TheWineKone was the shit and when we still believed lonelygirl15 was really a 15 yo girl called Bree who genuinely didn’t know Daniel had a crush on her.
